Basic Machine Quilting with Walking Foot

Beginning Quilting with a Walking Foot

This will be a basic introduction to quilting using your walking foot. We will go over supplies to make this job easier and some techniques done with the walking foot. We will only be doing sample sandwiches in class but you may feel free to bring in a quilt top that needs quilting and we can discuss options. We will also discuss ways to prepare your quilt for quilting.
You will need at least two fat quarter sandwiches I suggest that you use the batting that you will be using in your quilts. And it is helpful to make these practice sandwiches from contrasting fabrics so we can look at tension. A basic understanding of your machine and the settings is required for this class.

Supplies needed:
Two quilt sandwiches which are made from two contrasting fat quarters with batting between, if using  cotton batting no basting will be required.
Thread that contrasts nicely with the fabrics, so you can see your stitches
Wound  bobbins in a variety of colors
Quilting gloves
Extension table for your sewing machine
Tools needed to attach your walking foot
Marking tool - chalk pencil, Frixion pen or markers of your choice
A cushion to raise you in your seat makes it easier to see what you are doing
