Tom's Shirt Making Class
This is a 3 part class 11:00am to 3:00pm with 30 minute lunch break.
First week: Prepare Pattern/Cut Fabric, label pieces & possibly start shirt construction. Facts and points about interfacings and quick tips for a well pointed collar. The importance of proper interfacing and under stitching while constructing the collars and shirt facings. Plus pocket matching if applicable.
Second week: Attaching collars and facings, some top stitching, pressing hints and tips with the pressing. To slit or not to slit those side seams.
Third week: Setting of the shirt sleeves, hems and the dreaded buttonhole finishing touch.

| Instructor Bio: | I am a retired tailor, with many years of custom tailoring and garment alteration. I have made clothing most of my sewing life, starting at the age of ten in Pocatello, Idaho. I owned a tailoring-alteration business in Columbus, Indiana and moved to Florida in 1972 and opened Sir Thomas Tailoring in Deland, Florida in 1978. In 1981 started working managing men's and women's alteration work rooms in retail stores, retiring in Orlando in 2008 and relocated to Fort Myers. I've always been interested in the quilt world and have been longarm quilting for many years, currently on staff at Kay's Quilt Shop in Fort Myers, Florida |
