Instructor: | Susie McIntyre |
Instructor Bio: | Susie McIntyre - I am in Phase 1 training to become a Certified Instructor with Quiltworx. As a young girl my Dad would buy me 1000 piece Ben Hur jigsaw puzzles and my Mom taught me how to sew. How in the world do these two childhood activities possible relate? The puzzles taught me spacial relations and the sewing taught me skills to put things Together. I went on to University of Wisconsin - Madison and received my B.S. in Clothing, Textiles and Design. Then I received another degree from University of Nebraska In Interior Design. Spacial Relations came into play after graduation when I designed and Put together workstations of 1000?s of parts for Corporate America, etc. I continued to Sew things for my home, clothes for me and later I had time to sew quilts. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and lived in Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Omaha, Jacksonville, Fl. And finally here. I have spent a lot of time in Bangkok, Thailand among other Asian countries including 2 months in Shanghai, China. I lived in Grand Cayman for 19 months working selling (you guessed it) Workstations. My family is Winston the English Springer Spaniel and Paprika the Tortoiseshell cat. I love to walk and swim, Design and re-design my house, sew quilts, and I want to travel more. I love my trips to Montana Quiltworx Retreat Center and going to Quilt Retreats. I bought a pattern one day from Quiltworx called Tea Leaves. I opened it up, looked at the directions and promptly put them back into the packet. I had no clue! Year and years later I Found a class, signed up, learned how to read the pattern making my first Judy Niemeyer Quilt. I was HOOKED! Immediately I became determined to become a Certified Instructor as her designs combine my love for both Spacial Relations, fabric, color, and sewing. When you are finished, you really have a beautiful quilt that is unique to you. I hope you enjoy her designs as much as I do. |
