Mini Design Boards
We will be cutting Foam core board in this workshop so you will want a box cutter or ex-acto knife for this purpose not your rotary cutter. I like using up my extra lengths of binding and also I have covered the backs of my design boards with those cute novelty fabrics that I just couldn’t resist, though is not strictly necessary. I have several of this to stack when I am doing sampler quilts, it’s lovely to cut several blocks at once and set them out at the cutting table then carry the stack to the sewing machine. I intend to put these to good use in future classes so keep a look out for that. This class will require a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 6 students so we have room to work.
Supplies needed:
Foam core board at least one full sheet more if you intend to do multiple design boards
Batting enough to cover the size board you choose to make 10” board = 10”square of batting
Straight edge ruler 18-24” long
Box cutter or ex-acto knife for cutting foam core board
Rotary cutter for cutting batting
Cutting mat if you have a small one 18 x 24
Left over binding long enough to go around the size you have chosen I have a bin full if you do too bring the whole thing.
Or 2”- 2 ½” Strips of fabric that we can make binding out of.
Thread to match your binding or a neutral will work nicely.
Simple sewing machine you will only be doing a zig zag stitch.
