QOV
There are more than 10,000 QOV volunteers across the nation. Women and men gather together in official groups to create quilts for service men and women touched by war. Our group, Stars and Stripes, FL, is in its 2nd year. It was started by two members of the Southwest Florida Quilters Guild (SWFQG) (for more about our guild, please go to: http://www.swfqg.com/) There are groups like us all over the nation, (see the QOVf.org site-https://www.qovf.org/about-qovf/whos-in-my-area/) We serve Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties.
Our group has several components. We design and make quilts. We award quilts. We talk about the QOV foundation to people and we raise funds to support the purchase of materials. We help people nominate Veterans and Service People—touched by war for a Quilt of Valor.
Our group currently includes ladies from the Southwest Florida Quilters Guild and local Daughter’s of the American Revolution. We encourage local quilters to join our group. We gather twice a month at Kay’s Quilt Shop, and once a month at the SWFQG Saturday Fun Day.
