So now that we are into the dog days of summer, we are starting to look more into fall, with a few thoughts of season and lots of classes. We are very excited about some of our new classes.
Everyone knows that Scott loves his batiks. He has been shopping hard to completely fill ‘Batik Blvd’. We have been able to get a few bolts of white on white batiks. They have all sold out in very short order, we will be getting more.
All new shipments of fabrics are always posted on both Facebook and Instagram the day they arrive. So follow us at both places.
A last minute class that will be lots of fun, with Sharon Ralph, a certified Judy Niemeyer instructor, is the Desert Sunset Pillow class. While you are making pillows, they can be sewed into a stunning table runner or even a bed runner. This is paper piecing, the Judy way. This is a very organized manner of paper piecing that allows some beautiful points in your project. This is a great beginning Judy Niemeyer class. Class is two days in a row, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 14 & 15. There are still a few openings for this class.
As many of you know, I am heading north to visit my daughter. We all know that she has some really fun ideas, so we can only imagine what a week of just she and I together can lead to! So I am hoping to come back filled with creative juices.
In September, we have a few special things going on...
- Saturday the 15th is National Sew a Jelly Roll Day. We will be offering a make it take it day to make a pillow top for Christmas. Class and kit is just $30.00. Pre-registration is required. Just bring your machine and sewing supplies and you are ready to go.
- Saturday the 22nd we will be making more Sleep Masks for the cancer patients to use during their treatments. We did this a couple months ago and these where a huge hit with both staff and patients, and we had so much fun making them! This is an all day event so, we will be ordering pizza for lunch. Plan on joining us.
- Saturday the 29th is another Pillowcase Day. The last couple times we did pillowcases we had great days, with lots of pillowcases for Ryans Case for Smiles. All pillowcases stay in Lee County. Let's have a huge pile of pillowcases this month! Bring your own fabric or we have many precut kits to use up here at no cost!
Sharon Ralph will be teaching another Judy Niemeyer class on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 25th & 26th of September. This time we will be making the Labyrinth pattern. This class is filling fast, so be sure and get registered to reserve your spot.
In October, Mo will be begin a 7 week class on the Westalee ruler/template system. You will actually be making a throw with all your different blocks. A real beautiful piece to showcase your lessons.
This class will be offered twice a week, either Tuesday mornings or Thursday evenings. The first class will be a bit of an orientation, going over fabric and thread selection and exactly what and how you will learn to master this technique. You will also be given video copies of the lessons each week.
So, now for the question of the hour....who has scraps of fabric? For the next couple of months we will be offering Scrap Happy. A class each month for a different style of scrappy quilt top. These will be the first Thursday of each month starting in October. So gather your scraps and even some extra to share if you like, and be ready to see some beautiful creations.
Kid’s Club resumes on October 6. A great chance for us to pass on our love of sewing to another generation. This is an all day session, so participants will need to have a packed lunch and snack or two. Participants are encouraged to bring their own machine if they have one, however, we do have machines at they shop if they don’t.
Our ever popular beginning quilting class, "Big and Bold' is being offered on October 9 and 23. This is a great class and only uses 13 fat quarters, plus 5/8 yard fabric for highlighting the blocks. Mo is a great teacher and you will learn how to cut and piece this top in just two classes, with just a little bit of homework.
Many of you have seen the beautiful round wall hanging we have of the butterfly that Debbi made. That class is scheduled for Saturday, October 13th & 27th. This is not a beginner class, but is much easier than you would think. So just how many beautiful butterflies can we create?
Another project that Debbi has had many comments on is the Duffle Bag. This is a project for advanced quilters. This will be a two day class that does require some homework before the first day of class. Class will be on Friday and Saturday, October 19th & 20th.
As we get closer to the holidays and the end of the year, we will have a few more Make it-Take it Days. We are then getting ready for a full schedule starting in January. So if there is a class you might be interested in and we don’t have it listed, please let me know so we can try and get that scheduled for you.
All classes, with dates, times, cost and class lists are posted on our web site. You can also register for all classes online.
It’s never to early to plan your holiday shopping , or for that matter, hinting! We are offering a special, via on the phone or in person only, on Gift Cards. Buy one and get an extra 20% added on. So if you purchase a $100.00 card, your card will actually be worth $120.00. Lots more buying power. These cards are good on anything in the store, including classes.
As always, thanks so much for your friendship, support and creativity.
