As you may know, March is National Colorectal Awareness Month, an observance dedicated to encouraging patients, survivors, and caregivers to share their stories, advocate for colorectal cancer prevention, and inform others about the importance of early detection. This year, more than 147,000 people will be diagnosed with this highly preventable disease.
Scott was one of these 147,000 people. After a routine colonoscopy about three weeks ago, he underwent surgery on Friday to remove a portion of his colon. His surgeon is very comfortable that all of that tumor has been removed. (Still waiting for the pathology report.) He is still in the hospital at this time, but each day he is improving and we couldn't be happier!
We hope that you are all healthy and safe from the coronavirus. Since we have just spent the last three days in the hospital, we were told we should all keep our mouths hydrated by drinking a few sips of water every 15 minutes, wash our hands well with soap while singing the "Happy Birthday" song and to stay home if you are not feeling well.
At Kay's we will remain open with our usual hours and classes. If you are not well, or want to decrease your time around other people please feel free to call or place an order online for either U.S. mail delivery or for drive-up pickup. (Yes, we will bring it out to you.)
With all of the changes happening so fast, we will continue to monitor the recommendations from the CDC regarding the coronavirus.
In other news, we did have a wonderful time at the Naples Quilt Show, and at the show we were asked to schedule a couple new classes. So please continue to read to see what we have to offer....
On Saturday, March 14, March 21, March 28 and April 4 Christine is offering “City Lights”. This is a beginner class and will take you from fabric purchase to completed quilt in just 4 weeks. Of course there will be some homework in between, but a completed project is always a great way to end a class.
Sharon will be teaching “The Big Easy” bag pattern from Whistlepig Patterns. The sample is made from the Northcott line “Haiku”. It is a beauty- stop by to see it or you can find it on our Facebook page. This is a two session class, Tuesday, March 31 and again April 7 from 10:30 until 2:30. Cost is just $60.00. Call to register or register online.
Caryn is so excited to be able to teach the “Diva Wallet. This one day class will delight you with the possibilities of this cute wallet. We also have the RFID fabric to protect your credit card information while in your wallet. We are offering this class twice, first on Thursday, March 26 and again on Saturday, April 18. Cost is just $35. Caryn has a few samples in the shop for you to look at.
We have had some interest in having the Bloomers runner class, the Clam Up Bags and the Open Wide bag. If you are interested in any of these classes, please call or stop by the shop so we can assemble a list to get these classes on the schedule.
Thank you to everyone for your love, friendship and prayers as we have traveled this very rocky road the last few weeks. As I have always said, "We have the Best Customers in the whole wide world". Thank you again.
We look forward to life getting back to normal, both at our house and in the world of health.
Kay and Scott
