Mid-March 2025

We are six weeks into our new space and I finally feel like it is home! I'm not saying that everything is settled, but close enough that it is cozy. (Like I still can't find my hole punch, with its wonderful purple handles.)
There are still spaces in our Beginning Quilt class.  This class is scheduled to begin on Saturday.  We do need 3 students for this class to be able to be held. So if you are interested or know someone who is, give us a call on Monday and we can get you all set.

Caryn's Hemingway Pouch and Atlas classes are both full.  If you are interested in either of those classes, let us know so that we can get it another scheduled.
Many of you know that I have a soft touch for many special causes.  My special cause is foster kids, especially since both our grandsons are from that system. (How lucky are we!)
We are a bit behind on our Christmas stockings for the troops.  For the last couple years we have been able to donate 1,000 stockings to the Red Cross to be sent to the troops.  These need to be collected by October.  I know that we can easily reach that number and even exceed it. I have an AccQuilt cutter and die to cut out stockings.  These are one time use stockings that are quick and easy to stitch together with ties on the top to hold in the goodies while they are in transit.

I have scheduled Thursday, April 10 as Stocking Day.  So feel free to stop by to help cut, bring your machine to help sew, drop off excess Christmas fabric, or pick up kits to sew at home.  Remember that we are open until 8 that night, so lots of availability to participate.  Any leftover stockings will be used for foster kids, Meals on Wheels or nursing homes.  We can never have too many!

Another project I would like to participate in is placemats for Meals on Wheels. They have 400 clients, so that is my goal.  They can easily be made with orphan blocks.  They do not need to be sets, as most are going to singles or couples in both Lee and Collier counties. This is a great opportunity to practice your machine quilting.
Lastly, we can always find a home for quilts and pillowcases.  Children in foster care can be between to ages of newborn and 18 years old, both boys and girls. Plus we donate to children in Golisano Children's Hospital.
Our APQS machine certification classes and rental program is ready to be launched the last week of March.  More information to be on our website in the next couple of days. Classes will be able to be scheduled at your convenience, just call or stop by to book your class. (For the class you will be working on your own piece.) After you have completed your class, you can schedule time to quilt your own projects.
We also want to remind you that we do have Sew It's Monday, our open sew, Thursday Evening Open Sew, of course we order out dinner each week and Friday is Open Sew, hand stitching, no machines.  Yes, you can bring knitting, crocheting, as long as it is by hand.
Stay tuned for our updates on the APQS machines.  Same time, same place next week!
Thank you for your friendship and support.
