| What's New for July! |
Our summer is off at full speed ahead. Scott just got back from two weeks in Carroll, Iowa for APQS training. It was two weeks of intense training, with no days off. He came home with two large 3-ring binders and a notebook full of notes! They also had to take apart and put back together some machines. His finally mechanical exam was to repair a machine. (He was working fast and furious, but of course it doesn't help that his table-mate was crying over her machine.) He got everything correct on his first try, just as Michele and I knew he would.Mark your calendars. We are having an APQS Roadshow at the shop on Wednesday, August 13 from 5-8P.m. If you are interested in learning more about the APQS family of longarm machines, this is the event for you! We have the Elle, the Lucey and the Millie 30 here in our shop. All will be set up for you to try. Please pre-register for this event. You can call, stop by or register online. This week we will be closed on Friday, July 4. We will be open again on Saturday, our usual hours. Hope you enjoy the holiday with family and friends. If you are looking for a take along project for the holiday weekend, we are very nicely stocked with sashiko. We got in some new panel patterns and the threads are fully stocked. I have been busy with some new ice dyed threads. I can not stitch fast enough to be able to use all the threads that I would like too! Remember, no two skeins are exactly alike. If you see one you like, buy it. They won't last long.Get your pencil out to mark your calendar for a weekend filled with fun, food and fabric. We are having an in-store mini retreat. This month's theme will be Christmas. We will be making a few projects that will be perfect Hostess or Christmas gifts. The is trime for you to work on your own projects as well. We will have some great food, fun and laughs. We will start on Saturday, August 16 at 2:00, and have fun until about about 9, and resume on Sunday morning, going all day until about 9-9 pm. (Or as long as you can last.)Added bonus, Michele will be joining us! You all know she loves to plan a party, so I know that you will enjoy this time. The in-store retreat will include dinner on Saturday evening, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Sunday and of course snacks! No cooking, no cleaning, just time for youto create. We are still working on the details, so stay tuned.Next week is my class for working with silk/neckties. This is an evening class. I have been playing with a few ideas, so I think this will be a fun and interesting class. I have enjoyed my projects so far.We still openings for the "A Tote for Kay" class on Saturday, August 9. This is an original pattern from Hilary Bobker especially for Kay's. Cost of this class, taught by the pattern creator, is just $75 and includes the pattern.Sign up for classes either online, in person or over the phone. Thank you for your friendship and support.
