Well, well, well...I have a lot of news coming your way! September has been a wonderful month for us. Michele had a birthday and we celebrated the anniversery of Franklin's adoption! 4 years! It is hard to remember life before he was in our lives! Both he and Jarvas have started school and are doing well and enjoying it.Speaking of school, Scott passed all his tests with APQS and is now a certified tech and can repair any APQS machine. I had no doubt that he would pass, but it was a very intense written exam. Good job Scott!Since we are on the topic of APQS, we are still offering the Longarm Certification Class. This class does allow you to rent Lucey, and quilt your own quilts. This class is a one on one class. You will start out using one of our quilt sandwiches and then after lunch, you will finish up quilting a small quilt of your own. This class is from 10:30 until about 2:30, so plan on bringing a lunch or snack as well as your small quilt. Cost is just $125.00.Once you complete the Certification Longarm Class, you can rent Lucey to quilt your own quilts. Cost is just $25.00 per hour with a 2 hour minimum. During the month of October, we are offering a special rental on Lucey, for two hours, you can get an additional hour for free on the same day! What a great start on getting some of those holiday projects quilted.Scott has been working hard to stay ahead of his longarm services. The holiday season will be here before we know it, so avoid the last minute holiday rush and stop by and see Scott.I just got a couple shipments of Sashiko in. I really want one of each panel, but I will be a good girl and let you sashiko stitchers have first choice on these wonderful options! But stop by soon as they will not last long. I made a really cute store sample. I made it because I wanted to and I picked fabrics I wanted. And I love it. I made up some kits, so you too can have this great quilt in your home, or to give away..The pattern is called "Ixonia" and the cost of the quilt kit is just $70.93. I have added a Beginning Quilting Class. It will be held on three Thursdays, starting October 18 from 10:30 until 2. We will be using the Edwina pattern from Villa Rosa. An easy pattern using 10 fat quarters. In this class you will be learning how to select fabric, how to cut and to assemble the quilt top. Cost is $99. and includes the pattern. What do you think of my slippers? I love them! Now I want to make a red pair! Red??? I just think they will be so cute and I put anti-slip fabric on the soles. I am offering a class to make your own slippers, (Color of your own choice!) in a one day class. This will be on Saturday, November 1 from 10:30-2:30. You will get at least one slipper done before you leave. You will need a walking foot for your machine for this class! Cost is just $45.00 with a kit cost! This class will fill up fast. These would also make a great gift!So I think many of us are thinking ahead to holiday gift giving. We have Open Sew on Thursday evenings. We are open until 8p.m. and most stitchers start arriving between 3:30 and 4p.m. We all usually stitch and grab a bite to eat from a local restaurant. (Scott and I get crabby if we don't eat!) All are welcome!Friday mornings we offer an open sew call "A Needle Pulling Thread". All hand stitching. A lot of the ladies are doing sashiko, but any form of hand stitching is welcome! Just no machines. One gal is working on hand quilting a quilt. Like I told her, if you work on it for 2 hours every Friday, that is 8 hours in a month. Little by little we get these hand projects done. Then we just start another one! All are welcome!So last but not least, we are having another APQS Road Show. This one will be on Saturday, October 18 from 11-2. If you have interest or are just curious, please register for this free session to learn about all the longarm machines that APQS offers.
