Lots of exciting things going on here.We have gotten some fun new things in the shop this month! First we have the All Florida Shop Hop Magazines in stock. Then the wonderful fabric arrived. Of course you can stop by and pick up a magazine, the fabric, you can purchase, but you can't take it home until March 1. If you will not be in the area, we can easily mail it to you on March 1. I really do think that this fabric is much nicer to see in person, than the photos I have seen. So stop by and take a look. Our rope classes have been very well accepted. I am also starting to stock Mountain Thread rope. This rope is 100% cotton and comes in natural, has lots of other fun colors and is made in the USA.Once you take our Beginner Rope Class, you are welcome to join in one of our monthly Rope Crew Classes. Each month we will learn a new technique and a new project. You will need to supply your own rope for this very reasonably priced class. You might also want to check out the many colors of rope we have in stock to make these special items.I did make a rope bowl this month. It really was fun. I had ice dyed some rope and that is what I used. So if I can do it, so can you!Quilts of Valor meets at our shop on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Each year they make a special block for that year. The group makes up kits to make blocks. All pieces are cut, just a grab and sew! We just need help sewing them. Pick up a kit, return a complete block! Easy!We also have stocking kits ready! My goal is to beat last years donations. We do have some Christmas fabric, but we never say no to additional Christmas fabric. Since we did over 2,000 stockings last year, the is a lot of donated fabric. For those who do no know, we donated 1,000 stockings that are sent by Red Cross to service people. Last year we did 425 stockings and placemats for Meals on Wheels in Lee and Collier Counties. The rest of the stockings go to Foster Children. (Many of you know, that is where we got both of our grandsons!) We share them both locally and in Ohio, where the boys are from. So feel free to stop by and pick up a few kits, they are fast and fun! (We will also continue the placemats, so if you would like to make one or more, they are always welcome. (Scrappy or planned, all are welcome.)Since I brought up the boys, and we got both of them in February, I just want to let you know, that on the 5th, it marked 5 years for Franklin being with us. Thursday will mark one year for Jarvis! We are so blessed to have those boys in our lives! We have a rug class scheduled yet this month. Check out our website for other fun classes as well. Open sews are Monday starting at 10.Thursday starting at 4pm until 8pm.Friday is open hand sewing, no machines. These are all free with great company. No need to preregister. Just show up and meet some new friends! Our Patty McCoy is enrolled in the Martha Pullen Teacher Licensing for Heirloom sewing. She will learn French hand sewing by machine and serger. She will be learning to make lovely items like baby and children's gowns and bonnets, beautiful underthings and nightgowns for women and fancy things for your home. Look for classes forming soon!
